Help which way up to plant my paeony

Hi everybody I hope you can help, I bought this Paeony some weeks ago and just got it out of the bag today.

As you can see in the picture the roots have developed three long pink shoots which I think have started growing on thier side due to their position inside the bag.

I think I may be worrying too much but should I be planting this on its side so that the shoots are pointing upwards or plant it downwards as it should be and assume that the pink shoots will redirect themselves?
