Lemon verbena

CharityCharity Posts: 6

I planted two lemon verbenas at the end of last summer.  At the moment, they are looking, what can only be described as pretty 'dead'.  I have snapped pieces of wood off and they don't look completely brown and dried but only very slightly green so its hard to tell.  I know they are quite tender but its common for people to think they are dead when they aren't and dig them up so, my question is, should they be sprouting new leaves by now, bearing in mind that they should be flowering in a couple of months or so please?  Am I being hopeful when there is no hope. image

anything that snaps off is dead but I have had them recover from nothing left on top after a mild winter.

Where are you? they're not hardy enough for outdoors in the colder parts of the country. They don't survive the average winter for me (East Anglia)

I've grown lemon verbena for years outside.
It looks dead until sometime in May when all of a sudden it seems to remember it should get going and a few weeks later it's a lovely little bush again.

Same with agastache - I always think i've lost the lot, but in May the little shoots usually start to appear

Similar for me to what Pete8 says.  I live in North UK and lemon verbena has overwintered for years.  Just looks like it hasn't at the moment.

Good news!  With the lovely warm weather we've had the last couple of days, one has shoots appearing. image  Nothing happening on the other one yet. image
