Tree Peony Disaster
Our young tree peony which was about half a meter high had just been snapped off at soil level after a gust of wind blew our clothes airer on it.
The he roots are still in the ground and after lifting the airer of the ground I had the tree peon steam with leaves and bud attached in my hand with no roots!
Iv iv placed it back into the soil and watered it but what are the chances of it regrowing its own new root system and living?.
Any words of wisdom is greatly received. Many thanks.

Don't think the top bit will root ........... but stranger things have happened.
On the other hand, the roots are very likely to grow new shoots and branches and turn into a perfectly good shrub.
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Tree peonies will send up new shoots from the base. If it's planted properly the graft will be below the ground and new growth will come. The broken stem won't put down roots. Is it a Chinese or Japanese tree peony? Not that it makes much difference properly planted they are quite hard to kill.
I'm not sure off the top of my head if it's Chinese or Japanese, but thank you for the reassurance that something might grow back eventually.
Noooooooooooooo, hope it grows back
