Bareroot Lupins

i have for the first time bought some BAREROOT LUPINS - can you please help me to identify how to plant them? Strange looking things ?  some of them have copious white shoots off a  "carrot like root".   I am assuming I plant the "carrot like root" downwards into the hole - but what do I do with the copious white shoots ?  Do I leave these protruding from the ground? And can I plant them "in clumps" or must they be planted in singles ?

And planting  them now, will they flower this Summer, or not ?

thankyou kindly

Depends how big they are, if it were me, I would put them in pots first, if you plant them straight in the garden, you will never see them again. As those little shoots grow, so the slugs will chew them off, then they won't grow at all.

Pot them up with the white shoots just level with the compost and watch for slugs.

Whe they have grow into big plants, you can put them in the garden about 2' apart. They do spread once established.

If they haven't made a good sized plant by the end of summer, I would keep them in the greenhouse until next Spring.

They don't always over winter in their first year.
