I pulled out the remains of a plant the other day, to find the main root enclosed in a tea bag type thing. It should have survived the very mild winter we have had. Still, it leaves a space for something new.
Had to move a jasmine plant that was a present and guess what it was in a tea bag , however , pleased to report a very goog root system but the tea bag still in there , it has been in for a year and not rotted down !
Hi , yes I'll join this campaign! I bought an escallonia last spring , needed coverage and GC recommended it. So bought and planted but I took it as read that the tea bag thingy would allow roots to grow through and rot down / didn't know any better...... No ! it didn't come on all last year, so just dug up to re- position and low n behold, it's a tea bag with a very small root ball. Fingers crossed, it now grows on properly
Hello further to my post in April , looks like Jasmine has died , will see when get back , I have moved looks of plants over the years ans rarely if at all lose any must be down to tea bag

I suppose the theory is that the roots grow through but reading this thread it doesn't seem to be happening
