Plant names

Hi

I would like to plant something in the garden in memory of my parents, Rosie and Peter. Are there any plants named after either of these names? I could only find Rambling Rosie (a rose) which is fine but just wondered if there were other options. Any suggestions for Peter (ideally a tree) would also be very helpful as I have not been able to find anything on the internet for this.

Would be grateful for any suggestions.

Thanks.

There is a Magnolia, a hybrid bred in this country. It is Magnoila x veitchii "Peter Veitch" a spring flowering tree with large pink flowers. It is however one of the biggest Magnolias and would probably reach 50 ft eventually. It is not a good tree for exposed positions.

  • How about a confederate rose?  Aka Hibiscus Mutabilis; it's not actually a rose.

  • Not sure exactly what you're asking for Pansy.  I realise my suggestion is Rose and not Rosie and I had nothing to offer for Peter; I wasn't suggesting this would work for both.  Perhaps I should try harder!

  • Hello everyone, & thank you all for your helpful suggestions! Plenty for me to think about but early favourites are defintely the apple tree idea (Pansyface) & also the Peter Pan rose (Tetley). And I think I will go with Rambling Rosie.

Thanks again & happy gardening image

  • Thanks Tetley - that seals it then for the Rosie Rambler!image
