LAWN SCARIFYING

The weather of the last few months has caused me to delay the scarification of my lawns and now  the work is due to be carried out today but its very wet here again this morning and I wonder if  I should cancel?   Your advice, please.  Many thanks.

Apologies - this has also been posted in the Talkback section in error

I did mine 2 weeks ago, combined with aerating.

It was a warm few days - nice and firm underfoot.

Pinkpeony, we had Greenthumb do ours a couple of weeks ago.  They hollow-tined first and then came back a couple of weeks later to scarify.  We've had more or less constant rain since then (not their fault!) and our grass now looks like a muddy ploughed field image.  It looks a heck of a lot worse now than it was before.  They're supposed to come back soon to feed it, but I think they're going to have to re-seed about 50% of it.  I'm not a happy bunny!!

We did ours last week, it looks horrendous, but I know in a couple of weeks when we apply the weed, feed and moss killer to it, it will look lovely.

Always looks worse before it looks better but well worth it.

Ours is like dry white straw! Not to worry, it'll be lovely in the summer.

I thought you should only scarify in the early autumn, and never do it in spring as could promote weeds etc.

Thanks everyone, the weather improved yesterday and when the man arrived with the scariifer the sun was shining.   I voiced my concerns and he seemed to know what he was about and certainly was not deterred by the conditions -  I attach a pic!  Disposing of the moss, thatch etc., was not included in the price so I have 12+ bags to take to the tip.   Perhaps the lawn was drier than I thought.    I've walked around and can only see one area in need of some repair/seeding - something else to learn.  Any comments?   Thanks again for your help
