Dahlia

B3B3 Posts: 27,503

I want to pot up my dahlia tubers to get them started.

The pots will be outside. Are they safe if there's a frost before they sprout or should I wait a bit?

In London. Keen but lazy.

You usually pot them up inside, then put out around the end of May, you will need to pot them now though as they need to be grown into big plants by June.

Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.

No room inside. Will wait a couple of weeks and take a chance.

    Thanks lyn

Uh. I've just ordered lots of dahlias and don't really have space inside. Will a plastic minigreenhouse be enough to protect them? How big do the pots need to be?
