Beheaded Tulips

Can anyone tell me what's eating my TULIPS? Something is eating the top of the tulip heads?

If the heads are gone and not just broken off (woodpigeons do that to mine), it's possibly  squirrels unless you are rural in which case deer are a good bet.

A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
  • Thanks Dave Morgan and BobTheGardener. I don't think its squirrels or deer. It's likely due to woodpigeons. I've seen quite a few of the pigeons in the garden!! Thanks for your help.

  • My tulips get chopped every year.  I live in the Highlands and discovered a roe deer was squeezing through my hedge.  Why do i bother even trying....

Are you sure you don't have visiting deer Fluffy Cloud?  I think tulips are their absolute favouriteimage. They very neatly take the flower buds off - as if they were eating a lollipopimage.  I grow all mine in a fenced off area now.
