Mixed Celery
I do like to experiment with gardening myself and did this with celery a few years back, I mixed the trench celery with the self-blanching celery in alternate rows in a plot of celery with a ring of self blanching celery around the plot, might have been 2 rows but the trench celery grew well within the self-blanching celery and it grew as tall.
My tip on celery is that mine grew great because I used David Austin Mycorrhizal Fungi on their roots, had nearly 3 foot celery from that… But they might have been a bit closer together than they should have been but it did work. The problem is the Trench variety is hardier...
I grew the celery in plugs first, so I could alternate them as I planted them in a diamond square formation between the two varieties. There were alternated so that the self blanching celery growing forced them to blanch the trench variety as they grew. But as I say it was an experiment that seemed to have worked but the Mycorrhizal might have helped as well?
