Growbag Waterer

I have been looking at Hozelock's Growbag Waterer  has anyone got or used one? As we go away during the summer for odd weekends or longer I wondered if they work and are they worth the money?

Try a pop bottle upside down lid on with a couple of holes in the lid. Free.

  • I used them one season, in a summerhouse (pretending to be a greenhouse), not bad.

They are however dependent on the weather - on very hot days they would drain down within 2 days but on average would last a week. So good overall.

But I found if the water stayed too long inside the main reservoir the mosquitos got in through the refil hole and laid eggs in the stagnant water - so for a few weeks I had clouds of mosquito. I complained to the manufacturer and they suggested jamming sponge into the refil hole and removing each time to refil.

My veg is now outside in raised beds but I would kind of recommend them for busy/working folks, ..with the caveats above.

  • Dave, Wild. Thanks for the ideas / views.
