Unknown plant and unknown disease - help to identify?

Hello,

Am new to the forum, so please be kind! I've moved into a new house and there is a plant at the front (south facing) that looks to have a nasty disease. Woody looking nodules all over it that look to have some mould on them. The plant grows around a window and looks to have a trunk about 6-8 cm in diameter.

I've uploaded some photos of it below - I don't really want to cut it down, so if it can be cut back and treated I'd prefer that as an option.

Thanks in advance! Any help identifying it and information on treatment and care would be great.

Hello pansyface, the mouldy blobs are very hard and woody, I can't crush them between my finger and thumb.

Thank you, it might well be crown gall, there are no lumps on the trunk so I may risk trimming all the nasty lumps off and seeing what happens. From what I've just read it looks like I won't be able to eradicate it easily.
