bamboo
my next door friend shares his bamboo hedge with me and its been fine, giving us a dense, private barrier,up to now, but it has produced lots of grey feathery plumes, very few leaves, which has defeated its purpose, has anyone come across this before, can we do something or will it rectify itself, given time?

It is sometimes the case, more often than not, that it may die K9.

Have a look at this article it's worth a read, a double edged sword maybe?
If it does flower, wait a bit and then collect some seed. My current bamboo is a seedling of a previous one. They grow fast
thanks you guys, we wait an see,if so, plan a better sub!
Interestingly, I was watching the Beechgrove Garden on Sunday morning and Carol Baxter was saying that Phyllostachys Aurea isn't invasive, that it forms nice clumps and just throws out the occasional runner which can be cut off and removed.
If you can be dedicated enough to check for runners every few months she's probably right.
