Will Puschkinia Libanotica cross with English Bluebells

Amanda27Amanda27 Posts: 5

I have recently been given some lovely striped squill, Puschkinia Libanotica.  But having spent 2 years removing Spanish Bluebells from my garden before planting English Bluebells I am now concerned if these Puschkinia Libanotica will pose the same threat of cross pollination.  Where could I get a definitive answer to this problem? I don't want to undo all my hard work removing one threat only to replant another.

Don't worry - Puschkinia are Scilloideae which are a different species to bluebells which are Hyacinthoides - they won't cross-pollinate each other.

And this one is actually P. scilloides. The name libanotica has been dropped.

That is great news, thank you both!

I can now look forward to finding the right spot for these lovely little flowers in my woodland garden.

    thanks again.
