Love a bargain

TootlesTootles Posts: 1,469

Morning

Ooooh I love a good buy! As its pouring down outside I've been flicking through last months GW Mag and have bought a runner bean stand. Used the discountcode and it came in at £24 instead of £29. Chuffed! Saw the same one on eBay for £34 so think I've got a good buy.

I normally use canes but they tend to wobble about as I'm not strong enough to get them deep enough in the ground to be secure. I was tempted to get some willow a chap was selling by the road but too long to fit in my car.

Hope this solves that problem. Now off to find a wood yard that's open to build a bed while the ground is nice and soft. Yippeee!

Note to self: must not go to the wood yard via the garden centre!!

How will you fix that to the ground?

I was about to ask the same question.  Unless there are long rods to push into the ground it will much less resistant to winds than a can structure.

I'm going to partly bury it in a slightly raised bed and I've got some metal rods with flat tops that are made so that they can be hammered in. Guess I could always use bricks on the ends though.

That looks like a great bargain.  Last year I used a willow wigwam, which was an anniversary pressy, everyone laughed including the friends who gave it to us, said how was I going to pick the beans, well, none grow on the inside, it looked lovelly, and they were easy to pick, so there!!!!   What page was it on Tootles?

We got a bargain today - driving back from visiting Ma we passed a house with a sign

Free Horse Manure - we filled the car boot with six bags full of pony poo and now they're stacked in the garden - when we empty the compost bins they'll be added bit by bit to the new heap - marvellous! image
