Bay trees

i have inherited from the previous owners an 8 foot bay tree that has been put in an awkward place. I want to redesign the garden. Can I move it to a better position or will it die? Please help!

    I agree with all Verdun says. Water water water from the day you move it til the end of the summer!

    Based in Sussex, I garden to encourage as many birds to my garden as possible.

    Thankyou for that, my boyfriend is now very happy that it can be moved but not looking forward to digging the hole!!
