Overwintering onions

last autumn I planted some onion sets.  They are now have 2-3 leaves and are about 6-8" tall with good roots.  Can I move them to a different bed if I dig them up carefully?  Or will this cause them to bolt?

Not something I've ever down, but I somehow feel they wouldn't be very happy.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

  • Thanks.  I will give it a try with a few of hem just as an experiment as there as they are currently in the wrong place and see what happens, but it doesn't sound too promising.
