sarcococca trimming

If I were to take the top off an established sweet box would it green up again? It's about six foot tall and quite a rounded bush, but is right in front of the kitchen window. I would like to reduce the height by about a foot, but don't want to ruin it if it isn't going to rebud.

I planted one out last week - sarcococca hookeriana var. digyna 'Purple Stem'.

Chose it as the purple colouring seemed a bit more interesting and the scent (to me) was better than the others that were at the local GC. That one gets to 1.5x1.5m apparently....
