Gardners world magazine April
I'm loving Gardners World this month, already you have saved me lotso of money. I was about to buy a flymo ultraglide when I read your review and decided it would not suit my needs so I'm getting one of the other flymos instead.
Nice planting plan for narrow beds and also shade plants, supposedly for pots but can go in beds also. I don't do pots because I go away a lot and there is nobody to water them when I am not here.
How about a review on watering systems for pots sometime?
Finished up the morning after reading GW by finding 6 big ferns for £12 in Morrisons which sorts out my shady area.

I do love the mag, but oh dear, don't they contradict.
I noticed in this months a question someone asked about growing Zantedeschia, the reply was... Good free draining compost, water carefully. Grow under glass or on the patio.
i looked in a previous mag,.....the same plant, .... Grow in poorly drained soil, bog garden or even in 30cms of water.
They definitely don't mind wet feet.
I've had some growing in a ceramic bowl that has no drainage holes and they've loved it. I thought they would look good beside my pond, but was not sure they would survive my winters, so it was a happy compromise
They are currently in the GH and raring to go!
There are several different sorts - some are tough as old boots - some are more prima donna-ish

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Glad I've read your comment Buttercupdays ....... wondering whether mine were suffering as they've been in tubs for 3 years.... I've left them out this winter and just removed the yucky leaves. I've retopped up the JI3 a couple of times but do they get potbound? Are they better off for being left? I was a bit worried when I read about the watery advice in the GW magazine.
All of the seed catalogues are contradictory I find, especially when it comes to shade or full sun. I've hardly found a single one that says the same thing.
