We grow bougainvillea in a cold greenhouse - they do very well here. They are such beautiful plants with vivid flowers. Our only problem has been with mealy bug, however if we catch them early enough a dose of diluted washing up liquid in a sprayer usually kills them off.
Hello all, new to this forum but I have a bougainvillea question and thought someone on here maybe able to help...
I bought a pink/red one that was being thrown out at a local garden centre last October. I re-potted and put into the conservatory. True to form come December it dropped all it leaves which is what I was told would happen. In Jan I trimmed the ends and from then it really stared to grow, at least double its size..As at last week it had been outside for a couple of weeks (I live in truro cornwall) and just had the pink flowers starting to come out.. I went away this week and brought into the conservatory because strong winds were forecast and unfortunately I have come home to find it wilted really bad in the heat with the flowers dead..
i have given it a good water and the leaves have responded but I think the damage was too much for the new growth.. I wanted to know if I was to trim again now, will this save the plant and will it flower again this year?
Any advice on this would be helpful. I know they are a challenge to grow but definitley worth it.
