Sweet Peas

I'm growing these Sweet Peas from seed (I think they came with a Gardeners World Mag) and wondered if I should be doing something with them now a few of them have leaves...

Any sweet pea experts?...

Check out this thread Laura. Tons of great advice there.

I was told to pinch when you have eight leaves and to pinch just under the top two leaves : )

I just pinch the growing tip out when there are 8 leaves showing, they branch out like mad after that!

pinch out after two leaves and gradually aclimatize to outside temp.

I seeded  later last year (May) and the peas are now starting to grow for this year in the garden.image

Sweet peas don't like frosts, so seed in about another two weeks or soimage

  • I have sweet peas growing in loo rolls. I started them in the conservatory, and I have moved them on into the cold greenhouse. They have been in the greenhouse for a week now,and are have lots of roots appearing from the bottoms of the loo rolls and heading for the moisture in the capillary matting. I'm wondering when I can get away with planting them outside as I feel they are soon going to be to much for the loo rolls? Can they stand hard frost. Its the first time I have tried sweet peas so early in the year.

    Any ideas anyone ?

  • I will be putting them in the cold frame for a week before they go outside in the ground.
