Grass problem's
Hi guys, I have recently had a new lawn laid (December) and due to all the rain it ended up like a mud bath and is now very patchy....I laid seed onto the lawn nearly 3 weeks ago and these don't seem to have helped as they haven't opened although in the instructions it said 7-14 days before they start to open. Please help me as I don't want my new garden and lawn ruined so soon (I am a new be to gardening)...Thanks

It's been a bit cool for grass seed to germinate Glenn. Wait till it warms up a bit. Wet soil won't help germination either. Give it a few more weeks and a bit more sunshine plus a few more degrees.
I turfed mine 18mths ago and it's still a mess. Whatever you do don't cut it too short too early as I did. I suffer a bit from shade which hasn't helped the over-seeding but I think it was the early 'scalping which has caused my problem.
With slightly warmer temperatures and sunshine and rain for most parts of the UK over the next week it might be worth over-seeding again. Unless you had the seed covered you will probably have lost a fair amount to the birds if it's been down that long.
It's still early days for decent grass growth Glenn, so don't worry. My grass looks pretty rubbish just now, but in a couple of months it will be fine and dandy with a bit of feed and some sun. Warmth...that would be nice
Scalping, as Vegemight has said, is always an issue as it weakens your grass and allows moss and weeds to get a foothold more easily. Mow regularly through the summer and at a slightly higher height and you'll see a difference
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
