Help identifying

Hello.

I was walking by a lake earlier and saw some of these.

About half a foot high. Mostly in the shallows of the lake.

Is it horsetail ? As that is the only name I can seem to find on the internet although the pictures that I see seem to have a more like a bamboo look to them and taller and more sturdier.

Many thanks.

Happy Spring to all.

And from what ive read don't wave that bit around too much its the fertile spore carrying part.

Its spread from my neighbours and I'm on lookout for it at moment

yes that is horsetail marestail whatever you want to call it more invasive than japanese knotweed, our garden is full of it and the only thing that is helping is a chemical called kurtail , but as fast as we get rid of one lot another new root emerges . stay well away from it

  • Thanks for the headsup. I disposed of the stuff. Burnt to a crisp.
