They were sold as Brukale but now seem to be sold as flower sprouts. Grow like brussels sprouts. They are hardy, so dont keep them warm. A cold frame by night, while they harden off. If the soil is not ready, pot up individually in three inch pots of soil to let them grow on a bit. I sowed mine in small plug trays at the weekend. Where they will go is too cold and wet and claggy for them to go out yet.
hi pompyboy about 2 yrs ago some sproutsi had what we call blown cut afew of and boild them tasted great now as you say I think dobbies had them in cat// now they have taken them to seeds now so your ord/ sprouts when they blow cut off and eat
These taste more like curly kale but are sweeter and more tender. I ordered seeds form Suttons after buying some at my local supermarket at Xmas. Canna thole a sprout but these are delicious.
Needless to say they cost a packet as I had to order other seeds to spread the cost of p&p and I'd also been on the T&M site which had goodies I discovered I needed.
I shall be sowing mine in the second week of April as we will be away for the first week and Possum is happy to stay home and study and look after the house and cat but doesn't do seedlings and gardens.
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

They are lovely, we saw and bought a stalk a couple of years ago from a farm shop under the name of Kalettes. I grew some last year, they stalled over winter as did my other sprouts but I have started picking them now and they are lovely. Growing more this year
Problems with these sprouts now..looks like they've all bolted/gone to seed..is there anything I can do or just dig them up and put it down to experience.
