Bad luck, Privet! Look on it as a learning experience: next year you can mix well rotted manure with your leaf mould and spread it around any delicate plants that you have identified and marked this year! I have found that most plants cope very well - at least, anything tough enough to get through the winter in my garden seems to laugh at a bit of muck. You may well be the same.
Hazel, you are on my wavelength! Posy, I am thinking of making a video of the garden this year ... If it survives! Then I can say what I've got growing as I see it.
