Nicotiana affinis seedlings

Hi, I’m not sure what to do with these seedlings. Should I put them outside under cover during the day? Will they go leggy if I don’t? They’re in a room at the moment with no heating on. I don’t have a green house or cold frame. Can I use a clear plastic box to put over them?
Thanks for your help
Fred

I think I'd get those into individual pots now, keep them where they are until they've settled in and then start hardening off

Bit early, I would think Edd. They are not hardy where I am, I don't put them out till mid May.

S.Yorkshire/Derbyshire border
They've been indoors Edd.
N. affinis are almost hardy, mine came through 14/15 winter and I expect to see them this year. But not at this stage of growth.

They look like nice healthy little seedlings Fred
But yes, get them split into their own little pots and grow them on for a good bit before letting them loose in the big outdoors - gradually!
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
I find this year's seedlings flower before the ones that are perennial Edd. Just like some of the salvias, eg patens.
Not as huge as N, sylvestris
affinis more reliable for me. The evening scent, fantastic

Thank you all for your advice. I have put them in their own pots now. Will leave them to settle for a while and then start to take them outside. So is it ok to leave them out under a clear plastic container? Or should Ii increase the time spent outside gradually?
Yes I've grown them before but not from seed. Haven't been able to find them in the garden centres for years.
You don't often see the plants for sale, well, I don't
I've no experience of hardening off from growing indoors, I use a cold GH.

Hi, these Nicotiana are growing back. Will they flower as well though?
Thanks
