Aym, after you've cut the top spikes you should get lots more sprouts forming in the axils of the leaves up and down the stem. Only when you've harvested all of these is your sprouting broccoli finished. The plants should crop for a couple of months at least.

No, they're bi-enniel - they grow in the first year, produce the flowers in the second year and then turn up their toes and go to the great allotment in the sky image

    Hi all

pickings off the plot this afternoon which is my favourite and will always grow.

Cannot believe what they charge in the shops so let's hope my crop provides plenty for the freezer also like last year

Cornish sardines (aka pilchards) from Waitrose (the local supermarket in the village)  £1.89 for six.  - also the samphire from there.

A bit later in the season we'll be getting local samphire from the fish van that visits, but it's too early yet.

Or we can pick some when we go to the coast (I know a secret spot image)

Samphire, in season, is sold as standard in supermarkets and fishmongers here.  However, they don't do PSB and nor do the markets or independent greengrocers so I grow my own.

Last year's sowings have survived winter in a sunnier, more sheltered bed than my usual veggies and the last few days of mostly sunny weather mean we should get our first picking this weekend.   Now to decide what to eat with it.

Yes, PSB is what I grow.

You can grow samphire from seed, apparently.   Found this after a googl - http://suttons.kayako.com/index.php?/Knowledgebase/Article/View/371
