Planting Out Lavender

pompeyboypompeyboy Posts: 98

Hi...was wondering when is the best time to plant out lavender.. I have four cuttings from last year in pots in an unheated greenhouse.. Can they be put out yet or is it too early especially as reports there is going to be a wintery spell over Easter..seems they are a fairly hardy plant from what I've read.. Thank you

  • Hi, too early I think. I also have some small plugs in a cold frame and I'm holding back on putting them out for at least a month. Lavender is hardy/can be out all year round but it can also be a bit delicate - as mine are new/tiny they're not tough enough for really cold spells yet. I'd wait.

    ps- I'm in the South.

thank you 800 and Verdun....Verdun i already have them in pots so do you mean plant up in bigger pots then put them out..these plants are about  6 -8 inches high right now with new growth coming near the surface though quite leggy with leaves mainly near the top of the plant.

    800 i'm in the East..Norfolk.

    thank you both of you..appreciated
