    Can we see a photo?

A good watering in should be enough to last 10 days at this time of year.

Were they bare root or in pots?

A photo would be good, did you cut a third off of them when you planted them, and put a bit of compost or bone meal down the planting hole. They will take a couple of months for the roots to bed in. Once the spring/summer comes they will grow.

you will need to keep the tops trimmed for a year or too if you want them to become a thick hedge.

Make sure you are not over watering, that can make your laurels look very sad. Poke  your hand into the soil round the roots to check how wet it is.
