When should I prune black currant bushes.

    I believe current bushes need to be planted now. Prune them so that there is lots of space in the middle of the shrub for air movement otherwise the fruits can get riddled with mould/fungus.

  • The best time to Prune is before the growing season starts. I usually do mine after all the leaves have fallen from the bush.
    As Jerrybone says, concentrate on opening up the centre of the bush and also perhaps take out damaged or old thicker stems to gground level.
