Bit too cold yet for much growth but in another month you'll see a difference.
Better to apply too little than too much. To be honest - most people's grass will look pretty rubbish just now, so don't worry about it too much!
I won't apply weed and feed for a few weeks yet - that gives the weeds a chance to be big enough for the 'weed' part to have an effect. It's often a good idea to give just a feed at this time of year. That gives the grass a boost too, and then the weed and feed applied a few weeks later does a much better job.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Hi just thought I would update this thread with the progress we've made with the grass...
After reading all the advice that you all gave me, I left well alone for a few weeks, then tried again with another application of 4 in 1, which this time had some effect, we've managed to rid the garden of most of the daisies, some still remain but it's nowhere near as bad, we scarified and aerated again, then as I was left with some substantial bare patches that the moss and weeds left behind, I put down some patch magic seed and coir stuff. That was about 5 weeks ago I think. Didn't see much in the way of grass coming up, so bought some ordinary seed and put that down too, and overseeded the rest of the grass while I was at it. I've been watering like mad for the last few weeks and finally the patches are starting to fill in.
Think it's really improved! i know the grass is long but I was trying to hold off mowing again until the new grass was properly in, didn't want to damage it.
Anyone have any more advice for me? I have done pretty much the same treatment on my front garden grass but still have huge bare patches there, the birds seem to have eaten most of the seed :-(
