Have never had one, so couldn't say, if you only want to do a few plants it's ok, I have about 100 lots here, a propergator wouldn't be much use, and everything is popping up nicely without.

Ihave an electric windowsill propagator that I have been using for 3 years (it doesn't have a thermostat).  Its a garland.  They do a 7 tray and a 3 tray, mine is a 3.  I start seeds off in them and they germinate in just a few days,  I then take them off the heat and sow 3 more trays on the propagator.  I wouldn't be without mine.

  • It all depends on what temperature you need most flowers/veg are ok with the cheaper ones (aldi,s) do the one I use and it's fine aprox £13.00 but if your planning on chilies then the expensive variable thermostat models heat up to 28+ degrees (Stewarts or greenhouse sensations) are probably of more use

I bought the Garland 7 this spring, on recommendation of several people here, and it works perfectly.

  • I have bought a heated mat this season

I've been able to fit about 4 + trays on at a time
