Hyssop

Lou12Lou12 Posts: 1,149

Hi Everyone

I bought three hyssop plants which I've had in a pot for a year and they haven't grown massively. I googled and google tells me one plant will eventually spread to a meter wide, can anyone tell me if they are fast or slow growers, if they are fast growers I'll put them a way apart but if slow they can go closer together.

Goodness I didn't know there were different ones.

Fortunately I am nerdish enough to keep all my plant labels in a box in case I need more information about a plant I'm growing.

This one is Hyssopus officinalis 'Roseus', can be used in cooking and grows to 2 foot but the label doesn't tell me how long it takes to grow to that height.

I had a bog standard one a very long time ago - I don't remember it being particularly slow growing even in my relatively unsuitable conditions Lou. image

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

To be fair Fairygirl I have three in a pot that has become too small for them and they are getting a bit root bound, I also din't water them as much as I should have last year but despite that they are doing ok but it's time to plant them out and let them spread thir roots.
