When is the best time to put my ant bait traps outside around areas iv had trouble with in the past

Thank you. I'm not to bothered in the garden. Two years ago I had flying ants in the brick work of my bungalow. Last year put 3 ant traps near the brick work outside and I didn't get any. Well just a couple of small ones. With the weather being like this was wondering if it would be to early to put them near the wall outside to deter any
