Rambling Rector

How fast would a new plant grow could I expect a vigorous show this year or have to wait for a few years. imagebit impatient

When I planted a bare root Rambling Rector it didn't do much other than grow roots the first year.  The second year it was over the roof of the coal shed; the third year we could hardly see the coal shed and was covered with blooms.

We moved away but I'm often very tempted to go back just to see what RR has done - it probably wasn't very wise to plant it in the small back garden of an inner city Victorian Terrace - I guess the back alleyway is impenetrable now image

My brother in law had one that he planted to grow into a big tree (forgotten what sort of tree). In a few years it was sticking out of the top. Don't think he ever pruned it.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
