Ideal plants for boggy soil

Ryan180680Ryan180680 Posts: 202
I am looking to extend my flower bed in an area which is currently grass...or suppose to be. This part of the garden during autumn/winter gets very boggy so in the spring/summer the grass doesn't grown back very well. I was after some advice on what plants are best for this type of soil. The area is also mainly shade but does get some sun during the spring/summer

  • I've never successfully managed to kill off a skimmia!  Plus new growth tends to be a different colour so it makes up for a lack of flower (although it does have a flower it's not that attractive).  Prefers shade.

I have a similar area to yours in my garden, although mine does have grass growing on it, It gets very water logged when it rains and pretty much throughout winter its under water.

I've planted loads of snakehead fritillaria a few years ago and they seem to love the bogginess of it. They only flower in spring so this is just a little suggestion of something that works for me.
