water fountain - noise level -
Hello, i am looking for a water fountain. One to help extinguish the constant chatter from neighbours. One which can increase/decrease in volume. Ideally solar, plug and / or battery.
Cost wise only talking about £140 or so..so nothing extravagent, happy if its mains as I have an outdoor plug.
Any recommendations please let me know, just checking usual site of B&Q, Amazon etc - a few nice designs but few far between re noise level..most seem like a trickle.

Or you can make your own http://greenfingers.com/articledisplay.asp?id=417
The greater distance between the water spout and the basin the noisier the noise

I wish you luck. We happily held a conversation during the display at the Bellagio fountains in Las Vegas. I can't imagine any domestic water fountain producing enough noise to drown out neighbours without being even more annoying than they are.
It's not that it drowns out the noise of conversation - the theory is that your ear focuses on the sound of the water and not the chattering.
A bonus is that the neighbours may spend more time going back and forth to the loo and less time sitting conversing ... although that may affect you too

I have found the bigger the drop the bigger the noise.
I would look at making your own. You can get something far better for far less.
Thanks for your replies and suggestions. Was hoping for a quick fix, someone to point me in direction of a 'shop' which sells an adjustable sound level fountain, mains and /or solar.
- But clearly not the case.
Making one...i dunno...ive made a mess of this garden with my ideas as it is..like most things its the finishing touches which do the job and that can take a skill, using the right tools etc...pumps, electrics etc..nar - i'lll 'have' to pay.
Any suggestions PLEASE let me know. UK based. Usual haunts of Amazon, Argos, B&Q..nothing really hitting the mark.
