Blackcurrants are crawling!!!

Just been out pruning my blackcurrants and some of the stems are absolutely crawling with little black things!!! I did didn't notice at 1st, just thought they where dark woody stems, till I grab one and it was sticky (I'd crushed half a million of them!) what on earth are they?

Aphids which come in all colours including black. then they are called blackfly. Spray with something which kills them. Lots of choices of aphidicides
You can also simply squash them. If your a bit squemish then wear some gloves
