Help, the stems on one of my fav roses is almost covered with white scales. Do I bin it or spray, if so what with. It was healthy enough last year. Thank you

Well it's definitely fungal Valmapp. I've come across it but not often. I'd consider what the air circulation is like firstly and improve it if you can. I'd spray with a fungicide asap. Then feed it. It needs some pruning as well, several dead bits which can harbour disease and keep it well watered and mulched. I'm not a fan of the grit mulch it's in. You'd be better off scraping away the gravel and spraying the ground around the rose then mulching it with manure. It should recover with some TLC.
