Advice needed about Acanthus mollis
I have a large plant in the garden. I just noticed that there is a smaller new plant growing a short distance away from the parent plant. Would it be possible to slice it off with a spade and replant elsewhere? And would now be a good time to do this? I hope someone out there can help! Thanks.

if they're small plants nearby, they're probably seedlings. Acanthus do this readily
I've found once you have acanthus, you'll never get rid of it. If you move it and leave a bit of root behind, that root will grow.
Have you any of those Hosta? I am on the scrounge again
if I did, you'd be welcome to them Lyn, but I don't grow it any more.
Thank you for that. They have been quite well behaved here - had them for years and only just spotted the baby.
grannybee, if you look around the edge of the mother plant, you might well find some new offshoots which you could dig up now. So long as there's a bit of root , it should be fine. No harm to Mother.

They are all up Jeff, and they are the same as the big seeds I put on an ID thread before, now where did I pick those up from?
