Rust-resistant leeks
I've tried treating my leeks year in year out for rust on my leeks and by now I'm fed-up trying to rescue or to treat them. I've read the threads on treatment, avoiding, dealing with it and have finally decided that enough is enough. Are there any seed varieties that are resistant? How do commercial growers avoid rust?

Commercial growers have access to chemicals that ordinary gardeners don't. I'd avoid growing them for several years. They're tasty but cheap to buy. I'm not sure any seed is particularly resistant, in some cases the spores are thought to be seed borne anyway.
Thanks Dave. Perhaps giving them a miss is the answer for a few years. Seed-born spores eh!? Certainly food for thought.
Sounds worthwhile Edd. Thanks. What sort of quantity? Tablespoon per pint? Couple of crushed cloves of garlic steeped in said mixture overnight?
Certainly worth trying! thanks
Glutathione on ice with a twist of lime certainly helped me.
