Palm Tree Care

in Plants
I have a rather impressive 'palm' in the garden. My question is whether there is any basic care I should observe with it and should I trim away any of the lower limbs or just leave them to drop off as nature dictates?

I'd let nature take its course.
That's what I 'like' about this gardening game - options!
I'm tempted to remove the bottom 3 or 4ft or so's worth of limbs which would give the shrub on the left (Sundance?) some more room however it will leave me an area to the right to fill. It's a very shady area.
Any recommendations for a small evergreen shrub to fill the space (maybe 2ft dia / 2 ft high). Something with some colour?
Thanks!
Many thanks for the suggestions Verdun.
