Sooty mould on Pieris

For the past couple of years I seem to be having a recurring problem with what I assume to be sooty mould (leaves look black and dirty) on my old potted Pieris. Any ideas why this keeps happening and how to solve it please? I have used Rose Clear in the past but I am not sure if this the correct product for this problem. Thanks

Lace bug maybe
Scale insects can cause sooty mould as well again a spray will help.
