Plant to cover shed

Julie 24Julie 24 Posts: 2

Hi,

We are in the process of building a large shed in the garden but would like is when it is tfinished we would like to "camouflage" ithe sides a bit so it is not so noticeable.

We already have a grape vine & would like something different. Something that does not need too much maintanence would be handy as had a honeysuckle & it went absolutely mad in our garden.

Ideally we would like something pretty & colourful but would look into just about anything.  So any suggestions would be gratefully received

Thank you

Julie

We have clematis Montana Marjorie on our shed. But first we painted the shed Willow green from Cuprinol.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

Looks great BL - but the shed is a lovely setting for it too. image

Clematis of any kind would be an ideal choice - you'll need some wires or trellis for them to cling onto. There are loads to choose from.

You could make a feature of it, rather than trying to hide it though - as BL has done Julie. image

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

hi Julie my shed  gets covered over with clematis all over roof and finds its way in to my shed there is a apple tree greengage and rose over hanging my fence the garden members don't seem to care.   they don't keep it tidy at all I have asked them to keep tidy no response  .this year the loppers and shears are sadly coming out  all over brances over will be sent backhanging  (  last year all my cues toms and flowers where covered with green fly the  rose and g/gage had crawling brances  after plenty requests I had to spray it my self

  • Wilkinsons sells green (or silver) fine mesh trellis wire, it's fantastic for fixing to sheds, fences etc - it doesn't show up against the wood and allow the plants to ramble and climb without falling forward. We have it over our skate grey shed, it's pretty invisible and really does provide a fab structure for climbing plants. We have 2 clematis growing up the tall shed end and one up by the door.
