Cherry Laurel

In Nottinghamshire I've got a Cherry Laurel bush behind my fence which is overgrowing to my garden.  Last winter I cut back so much that now it isn't obvious that it ever grow over my garden.

My problem is that I have to sell my house, and I worry  that next owner might want to use that part of the garden to grow something edible. Over the last couple of year the bush dropped a lot of leaves and berries to that part and I wasn't keen to clean that part so that was left rotten on the ground. About a year ago I even left a lot of branches there for a few months when I cut back the bush.

Could the poison be build up in the ground from these fallen leaves, branches, berries? Could that poison somebody who would grow any edible in that part of the garden?

Basically no Zoltan, but to be polite I'd at least tidy them up before you leave.

I agree with Dave - there is no danger of poisoning from fallen leaves, berries or branches.

But the house will sell better if the garden is tidy.
