Tootles, I was thinking about it like I would about a painting, I don't have particular gardening knowledge... How about creating a mock-up by cutting out a few shapes from cardboard and placing them in the bed to see how it looks like? And perhaps draping something over the top of the wall to see the effect a climber would create? Or print out the picture of the wall, cut out differently shaped pieces of paper and shuffle them around. Or, if you are good with Photoshop and the like, sketch over the photograph. The key (especially if you are sketching) is to think in shapes rather than outlines, because plants are shapes, not outlines.
I would think you might need three strong verticals of different height, perhaps two on one side and one on the other. The tallest one should be the middle one (but not actually positioned in the middle. Something like this: ___i__|______I__ Plus the climber that will obscure part of the top edge of the wall.
This how the garden looked the day I got home a few weeks ago. A friend very charitably said it looked like The Secret Garden the day she found the key.

They're a bit shy so can't get very close to measure, but that adult is about 12-15 inches I think.
Wow, that's much larger than I thought.
