Vine weevil

In the last few days I have found vine weevil grubs in containers, where the plant roots have already been eaten. Past experience has shown that a chemical treatment does work, but I don't want to spend money, now, on a chemical to kill the grubs in soil that no longer has any plant life in it. Nor am I allowed to put soil into the Green Waste Bin collected by the Council. Is there any other way I can reuse/dispose of the untreated soil? What happens if I put the untreated soil into my own compost bin?

You can put it in your compost bin and on the garden if there's any left the birds will have themimage

If you spread the soil out, the birds will feast on the grubs.

I find squishing them to be hugely satisfying.

I put it in the landfill bin  image and shove something on top to hide it

Or you could spread it out on concrete and use a flame gun on it, or one of those steam wallpaper strippers. Done both and they work. Then put the compost on your garden.

It would be a shame not to feed them to the birds.

I've found them in pots of hostas and agapanthus recently.
