to lime or not

I covered one of my no-dig beds with good muck and then with black plastic in the autumn. Now can I lime it ready for my summer brassicas?

If the manure is no longer identifiable I'd risk it.  Or maybe wait till just before planting.  It does more good, btw, in the (oversized) planting holes than spread all over the bed.

The problem is that the lime reacts with some of the nitrogenous compounds in the manure and releases the nitrogen as ammonia, reducing its availability.
