I've only got records for 5 years in this house, but for us (Wiltshire) this February was the second sunniest on record. Mind you, November and December were very low light-wise.
In Manchester February was a lot brighter than January and December, there was hardly a dry day in those two months, whereas there were quite a few last month. February seemed quite average weather, except milder than usual.
I'm just 4 miles from the city centre. Our front windows look straight at the Campsies so we get the Arctic blast when the wind is from the north but the back is a lovely sun trap. We have had some wonderful walks in Feb. in glorious sunshine on the Ayrshire coast and down in Dumfries. Can't remember doing that so early in the year before. Our daffs are out along with the snowdrops and neighbours have rhododendrons in flower already.
Ah - got you Esspee. Been on the Campsies a bit but not since last winter/spring
My back garden is sunny but exposed. It's probably the same aspect as yours. I used to live round the corner and it's amazing how much more sheltered it was because of the angle!
No rhodos in flower yet - even my snowdrops are just starting. Funny isn't it?
I know we joke about the weather, but I think it's been a fairly benign winter here. Drier than usual. It's the wind that makes the big difference - there's been less of that in general. I've been able to get out on the hills a fair bit and Saturday was great - two weeks ago was the same. More of that would be good!
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Well we were blessed with an hour or two of sunshine today! Very windy, some thunder and heavy showers. Not much hope of doing any gardening - glad in have a greenhouse - the thermometer went over 10 degrees in the sunshine - first time for a while and my sweet peas are starting to germinate!
