Looking at yours again Victoria, you have the same early stages of flowers. They seem to be hanging down on these plants at the moment.  Hoping that they grow as spikes as per the description.

Hope yours grows on you Jinxy. Im hoping it'll come into its own when it's a bit larger and established.

  • They might well be Tootles...the plant was frozen when I took the pic and I didn't want to meddle in case I snapped it.

Just went out and peeled one open, just leaves at the mo but looks like it could make a flower spikeimage

    Wearside, England.

Latest update - having spent the last 2 weeks in a cold frame, mine is now out in the garden, in a damp but quite sunny spot.  Many flower buds now image. Hope it survives this next step (image - no fingers crossed smilie so that one will have to do)

    Hi Chicky

great that yours has lots of flower buds. Are they standing upright?

Mine is still in the cold frame. Not brave enough to plant it out yet. Might do so next weekend.

Interesting loooking plant. Curious to see what it'll be like in full flower.

No, they are quite floppy stems - waiting to see if the flower spikes extend upwards.  I have another lysimachia elsewhere in the garden which is definitely more "spiky" in form.

Next instalment from sunny surrey ......my flower spike is beginning to unfurl, and lots more are forming lower down.  Have had to do a bit of propping up tooimage

That's lovely Chicky! Looks like you've got lots of flowers coming. Very healthy too. Is yours in a sunny spot or have you gone for shade?  Shows that sunny Surrey is that bit warmer than Nottingham as mines not that far on. Love your white dicentra in the background. I bought one yesterday! Do they take much looking after?

On the train to work so no gardening for me until home time tonight.

Oh I do like a good experiment.

My results are in for JBParker last year. Eighty odd quid's worth of mush delivered to three (that I know of) wrong addresses. A class act!

Tootles, its in a partly sunny spot, but quite damp soil ....the dicentras like it there too.  Those are actually new ones, but I have a couple of others out of shot that are doing well there - and they take very little looking after.  They disappear completely in the summer, but then pop back up about March. Lets hope Beaujolais does the same (although that might be hoping a bit muchimage)

How's everyone getting on? Mine went straight in border the day I got it and seems to have survived imageimage
